Second Medical Opinion

Do you receive comprehensive advice in your daily life before making decisions, such as before a car purchase or an upcoming renovation, in order to be able to compare offers? You will also have this same exact opportunity before you choose a particular treatment or operation.

By seeking a neutral second medical opinion, you can receive sound information that can help you decide whether or not to proceed with a planned operation. The doctor providing the second opinion can both approve the planned procedure as well as point out alternative treatment options. In the end, you are the one who decides which of the proposed treatments is best for you.

In order to maintain the neutrality of the second medical opinion, any possible treatment or operation is not performed by the second opinion doctor.

Please note that it makes no sense to seek a second medical opinion if you are already in the middle of a treatment, or if you are dissatisfied with your doctor. In such cases, direct conversation is the better solution.

The second medical opinion can give you answers to the following questions:
  • Do I really need the proposed operation or treatment?

  • What happens if I have the operation or treatment later, or not at all?

  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed treatment or operation?

  • What consequences will the intervention have on my health and quality of life?

  • Are there treatment alternatives?
