Supplementary insurance complements basic insurance. Depending on your choice of policy, it covers an additional share of your treatment costs that are not paid for by basic insurance. CONCORDIA's supplementary insurance policies are designed to match your needs. They allow you to optimise your insurance cover based on your personal circumstances.

Frequently asked questions about supplementary insurance:
What is supplementary insurance cover?Supplementary insurance allows you to extend the benefits of basic insurance and adapt them to your own needs. For example, hospital insurance allows you to choose the comfort you want in your hospital room or you can take out dental insurance for any unforeseen dental treatments. Unlike basic insurance, a health insurance provider can reject a supplementary coverage application. This means that, in the presence of a high health risk, supplementary insurance may not be granted to a person insured under basic insurance.
When and how can I take out or cancel supplementary insurance? It is always possible to take out supplementary insurance from the 1st day of the following month. Supplementary insurance may be cancelled subject to a three-month notice period to the end of the year or to the end of the contract period in the case of multi-year contracts, which means no later than the last working day in September. To take out or review your supplementary insurance, contact your CONCORDIA agency for a personal consultation.
What does VVG/LCA mean?VVG/LCA refers to the Swiss Federal Law on Insurance Contracts. As health insurance providers are concerned, the VVG/LCA regulates supplementary insurance as well as daily allowance sickness insurance.
Is a health statement required when taking out supplementary insurance?Yes, unlike basic insurance (or mandatory health car insurance), supplementary insurance according to the VVG/LCA always requires an application complete with a health statement for new insurance coverage or the increase of existing insurance coverage. This must be filled out truthfully. The application is reviewed and, depending on the clinical situation, there may be a reservation (exclusion from benefits) or rejection.
